Faithful Footsteps: Encountering the Six Streams in London

Join us for a day of pilgrimage through the heart of London, discovering the city's rich spiritual heritage and its connection to the Renovaré Six Streams.

Our route covers approximately 5 - 6 miles, starting at Bunhill Fields and finishing at Westminster Abbey. As we walk together, we'll explore the stories of John Wesley, John Bunyan, William and Catherine Booth, and other influential figures and sacred sites that have helped shape London's Christian story.

Each stop offers an opportunity to reflect on the lives of faithful men and women whose witness continues to inspire us today, while uncovering the powerful ways their stories connect with the six streams of Christian spirituality identified by Renovaré.

While we'll keep a comfortable pace throughout the day, time has been built in for prayer, reflection, conversation, and rest stops along the way.

FAQ:

  • Is the walk arduous? No, the walk is flat and there will be times for rest and refreshments. However, you should be confident in your ability to walk 5 – 6miles. There is an option to take a tube for the final part of the walk if required.
  • Who will be guiding the walk? Gordon Cotterill and Rob Hare from Renovaré will be leading the walk. Please note – we are not professional guides or first aid trained.
  • Apart from food and drink – what else should I bring? We will pass food and drink outlets, but it will be cheaper to bring your own. You should dress appropriately for walking (sturdy shoes) and inclement weather (raincoat etc). St Paul’s and Westminster Cathedral don’t have specific dress codes. Expect bags to be checked at both locations.
  • Anything else? Bring your mobile phone! We will ask you to join a WhatsApp group before we meet to share updates and handouts with reflections and activities related to the route. It will also be useful to track down any lost or missing people.
  • Final – please understand the ‘spirit’ of this event. This is an informal opportunity to spend the day exploring significant spiritual sights and history. This isn't a professional pilgrimage but we will do our best to ensure this an enjoyable and spiritually inspiring day.
  • Can I bring my dog? Probably not, whilst we love dogs, it may hamper your ability to enter St Paul’s Cathedral or Westminster Abbey!
